Sinopsis

The book Happiness and Human Well-being: Insights from Reflection, Research, and Intervention in Latin America emerges from the efforts of the Red Latinoamericana de Estudio e Intervención en Felicidad y Bienestar (Latin American Network for the Study and Intervention of Happiness and Well-being). This network brings together a group of academics and researchers from various countries, including Colombia (Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia, Universidad Mariana, and Universidad Única), Mexico (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla), Argentina (Universidad Católica de Argentina and Universidad de Buenos Aires), and Venezuela (Universidad Metropolitana). One of the primary objectives of the network is to "increase the level of happiness and well-being of Latin American people in their jobs, families, educational institutions, and society."

This goal aligns closely with the third objective of solidarity development set by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which emphasizes the guarantee of a healthy life and the promotion of well-being at all ages, considering this essential for sustainable development. The book is composed of nine chapters that present research findings or systematize intervention processes, covering a variety of topics related to the clinic, education, and organizations. It highlights approaches to happiness and human well-being among children and university students, as well as exploring the relationship between happiness, well-being, health, life projects, and insecurity. The work also delves into different perspectives on happiness and well-being from the frameworks of optimism, logotherapy, and flourishing. Overall, the book represents a significant contribution to the understanding of happiness and human well-being, reviewing various conceptual and theoretical positions and their practical applications, all grounded in rigorous academic processes and a strong commitment to social impact.
