Synopsis

This book presents the research results of the project titled “Género y educación infantil: discursos y propuestas de acción”  (Gender and Early Childhood Education: Discourses, Practices and Proposals for Action), endorsed by the Research Group on Childhood, Education and Diversity from the School of Education Sciences (ECEDU in Spanish) at the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD).

This work disseminates discourses and reflections from various academics, teachers, activists and scholars on the gender perspective in education. It addresses this perspective as an ethical demand and a moral requirement in the pursuit of equity and the elimination of gender-based violence.

In this context, the book offers readers documentary reviews, reflections and practices related to key categories such as gender, childhood and care, educational policies for early childhood education from a gender perspective, intentional action, the design of enriched environments and the training of early childhood educators free from gender bias.

Finally, it proposes a curriculum for the training of early childhood educators, who are emerging as transformational leaders equipped with tools to deconstruct gender prejudices and stereotypes, and to promote equitable relationships between boys and girls, in their commitment to building a culture of peace.
