Gender and Early Childhood Education, Exploring with a Researcher’s Eye

This chapter presents the foundation and approach of the research project "Gender and Early Childhood Education: Discourses, Practices and Proposal for Action", carried out by the UNAD. It is based on the recognition of gender as a sociocultural construction that has perpetuated inequalities since childhood, and the need to incorporate a gender perspective from initial education is raised. The text argues that traditional pedagogical practices still reproduce patriarchal stereotypes and that early childhood educators must assume a transforming role in creating inclusive environments that respect diversity. Also, the importance of public policy guidelines that promote equity and recognition of the rights of girls and women is highlighted, especially in the Colombian context. The proposal seeks to influence the training curriculum for children's teachers and promote a culture of peace, inclusion and respect from the first years of life.
