Children’s Education from a Gender Perspective: Weaving a Pedagogical Principle

Diana Carolina Alberto Chapelles ,

Synopsis

This chapter analyzes the relationship between gender, play, toys and children's classrooms. The author reflects on how gender stereotypes are reproduced through seemingly innocent pedagogical practices and teaching resources. Starting from a critical stance, educators are invited to rethink their role as social agents, aware of their influence on the construction of gender subjectivities. An early childhood education that recognizes the diversity and rights of children is promoted, opening safe spaces free of stigmas for their comprehensive development.
