Synopsis

This book is the result of the commitment of the School of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities to the co-construction of knowledge regarding the practices and work experiences that are being developed within the framework of UNAD Community Mental Health Accompaniment Centers (CASMCUNAD, for its Spanish acronym). Only since 2020 during the pandemic, when the articulated work of the Master in Community Psychology and the Psychology Program began to promote a strategy of practices from a model of community mental health that permeated the territories and achieved a real impact on the processes of human welfare; hence, Chapter 1. “Dialogues Around the Experiences of Psychosocial Intervention from the CASMCUNAD Listening Centers” managed to consolidate four degree-projects of master's degree referring to such a work and how they make great contributions both from practice and to conceptual elements such as community coping, well-beings (human-psychological and subjective well-being), participatory diagnosis, and, in general, it is bet on the challenges that psychosocial action in the territory implies today. Moreover, Chapter 2. “Experiences of Psychosocial Intervention in a Dialogue with the Institutional” reports on three experiences of community work that managed to have a real impact on the communities and showed innovative models and actions for the psychosocial field with various social actors; a look from the institutional to the research/action field committed to social transformation. Finally, Chapter 3. “Dialogues and Reflections on Psychosocial Intervention and Accompaniment” presents three major discussions that become necessary in relation to what is being developed with communities with the support of virtuality but also with the logics of what accompaniment vs. intervention means, and in this sense, it is configured as a favorable scenario for the consolidation of a thinking that transcends psychosocial action. In short, it is important to point out to the reader that: the production of this book and its chapters is born amid of a global crisis where community psychology requires the generation of knowledge, accompaniment, and appropriate action, and the work being carried out on community mental health issues provide progress and clear paths to work on it, thus, generating scientific challenges demanding the strengthening of training and dissemination in the institutional field.
