Ethical foundations of political theory and action : the case of neoliberalism

Tayron Achury (ed), ; Adolfo Alvear (ed), ; Pablo Felipe Garcia (ed),

Synopsis

The so-called contemporary “loss of values”, which is frequently mentioned by a wide range of social circles (academia, the media, the church), goes hand in hand with the daily mention of corruption in the political sphere. For political philosophy, the interest in this point covers perspectives of universal pretension, both in what has to do with the epistemic structure of the ethical discourse in a certain type of society and in a certain era, as well as in the relation that this would apparently have with the theoretical construction of the political, as well as with its concrete actions, for this specific case, referring to neoliberalism. We review the social, cultural, and economic events that increasingly seem to suppress, in practice, the ethical referent in the exercise of politics.
