Environmental Impact Of Livestock Farming In The Ubaté Valley: Measurement And Perspectives From A Business Perspective

The work on the generation of carbon footprint indicators in livestock production in the Ubaté Valley highlights the importance of measuring and understanding the environmental impact of this activity. The introduction highlights the relevance of this approach to promote sustainability in various aspects.In this sense, measuring the carbon footprint not only boosts operational efficiency, but also encourages informed decision-making. In addition, emphasis is placed on how knowledge management facilitates the identification of more sustainable practices and technologies. The methodology used combines the assessment of greenhouse gases, the analysis of sustainable practices and the implementation of innovative technologies. This highlights the comprehensive and multidisciplinary nature of the approach adopted, where in a first step, a detailed review of the existing scientific and technical literature on the generation of carbon footprint indicators in livestock production systems was carried out to identify variables adaptable to the Ubaté Valley Province, secondly, direct measurements were applied by taking samples of greenhouse gas emissions on 10 farms in the region to determine variables that would allow the sampling and evaluation of the carbon footprint, where finally it is intended to develop an action plan with the indicators and results obtained in knowledge workshops on the farms.
