Analysis of the fruit and vegetable sector in Colombia: Sustainability and Technological Advances

The purpose of this document is to analyze the fruit and vegetable sector in Colombia in terms of sustainability and technology, focusing on three variables: sustainability, technological innovation and environmental impact. A review of existing sources on the topic is carried out, evaluating their importance and the relevance of the challenges, which include environmental degradation, lack of access to technology and international competition.

The problem to be solved in this descriptive study, with a qualitative and deductive approach, focuses on identifying and understanding the limitations faced by this line of the economy in Colombia in its process towards sustainability and the incorporation of new technologies. The aim is to understand how these issues influence the sector's ability to preserve natural resources, reduce environmental impact and ensure its long-term economic sustainability.  To address this analysis, clear objectives are proposed: to identify the main problems, see the current state of the adoption of new technologies and propose recommendations to overcome them.  This paper examines multiple facets through fundamental questions that include the nature, mode, time, place, attributes, and purposes of the phenomena studied. These questions guide a detailed examination of the elements, patterns, structures, and sequences of events related to the implementation of innovative technologies and sustainable practices in the fruit and vegetable industry. The study seeks to unravel the particularities and dynamics of this transformation process in the sector.     In the discussion, the authors' opinions are presented and recommendations are offered based on the findings and results obtained. In addition, conclusions are drawn that provide a comprehensive vision of the situation of the fruit and vegetable sector in Colombia and possible actions for the future are suggested.
