Synopsis

This paper explores the application of behavioral economics to promote associativity and sustainable financing among small agricultural and agro-industrial producers in Colombia. Through a systematic literature review, the main findings, theories, and concepts related to this topic are identified, as well as practical implications and opportunities for further research.

The methodology consists of an exhaustive literature search in academic databases, using relevant keywords and applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selected studies are analyzed using thematic analysis techniques.

The results highlight the relevance of behavioral factors, such as trust, reciprocity, social norms, and cognitive biases, in the decision-making processes of small producers and in the design of effective policies and programs. Successful interventions based on insights from behavioral economics are identified, such as the use of positively framed messages, simplification of procedures, and the design of financial products adapted to the preferences and biases of producers.

However, limitations are also pointed out, such as the lack of holistic approaches that consider the interaction between behavioral factors and other socioeconomic and cultural variables, and the scarcity of longitudinal studies that evaluate the long-term effects of interventions based on behavioral economics.

The conclusions underscore the importance of incorporating behavioral economics principles in the design of policies and programs for the Colombian agricultural and agro-industrial sector. Strengthening collaboration among various stakeholders to develop effective and evidence-based interventions is recommended, as well as exploring the potential of digital technologies and financial innovations to expand the reach and effectiveness of these interventions.

This paper contributes to the existing knowledge by systematically synthesizing and analyzing the literature on the application of behavioral economics in promoting associativity and sustainable financing among small producers in Colombia.
