Synopsis

In the current business environment, any organization, regardless of the nature of its activities, is obliged to not only ensure the satisfaction of its customers that allows it to achieve the expected income and profitability, but also the safety and health of its workers.

This is why it is necessary to design a model of the occupational health and safety management system of the Mayor's Office of the Municipality of Corozal-Sucre, in order to support the prevention and minimization of risks to which its human resources are exposed. based on what is established in the current legislation that governs this matter in Colombia.

To carry out this research, a qualitative approach was used to collect information of interest that would allow an analysis of the threats and risks present in the Mayor's Office of the Municipality of Corozal-Sucre. Likewise, the vulnerability of people was evaluated. resources, systems and processes of the entity in order to structure a documented action plan that determines the appropriate responses to prevent and mitigate emergencies.

In this sense, regardless of the tools used, we sought to understand the assessment given to SST management in the mayor's office of Corozal, finding that the majority of those interviewed found an inconsistency between what was planned and documented, versus what was planned and implemented, because in many cases it is evident that the guidelines are not known, that it is not a system consistent with the real working conditions of the entity, or the necessary control measures are not carried out to ensure the effectiveness of the established measures.

The implementation of a management system around the health and safety of workers ceased to be an option and became an obligation, highlighting the need and benefits of a correct implementation of a management model that facilitates the adequate establishment of strategies. and the development of measures that ensure the achievement of care objectives for workers through the prevention and mitigation of occupational risks.
