Synopsis

Currently there are such strong currencies, such as the dollar and the euro, that have become a means of international payment. But such dizzying changes have emerged in technology that multiple applications have emerged for operations with unconventional currencies such as cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies have entered national and international finances so rapidly that many people cannot imagine that, currently, there are more than 8,500 cryptocurrencies. This language is based on Cryptography. Cryptography has been used over the years to send confidential messages whose purpose is that only authorized people can understand the message.

The phenomenon is so surprising that the following questions arise: Are there physical ATMs to carry out operations with these assets? Will cryptoassets become a common means of payment? Is there any software or application that facilitates risk analysis? Are the entities venturing into this type of investments? Surprisingly, in some Colombian cities such as Medellín, there are already ATMs to carry out financial operations.

The main objective is to conduct a field study to determine if cryptocurrencies will become a widespread means of payments or a means of financial investment. For this purpose, the qualitative research method and a survey using the MAS method aimed at the financial public and the non-financial public were used.

As a result, it was obtained that before the year 2030, cryptocurrencies will become a commonly used means of payment and an important investment option that will revolutionize the global financial system and generate changes in university education.
