Science communication and dissemination

Shyrley Rocío Vargas Paredes,

Synopsis

This chapter explores the importance of sharing research findings beyond academic circles to enhance scientific and social impact. The visibility of science serves multiple purposes: strengthening scientific processes, improving the classification of researchers and research groups according to Minciencias' models, and empowering communities by granting access to scientific discoveries. It emphasizes that effective scientific dissemination relies on writing skills, where clear and accessible language bridges science with productive and social sectors, fostering the development and sustainability of territories.

To achieve effective communication, the chapter highlights the importance of specific structures in research documents, such as scientific articles, which should follow a standard format (abstract, introduction, methods, results, and references). Vargas Paredes emphasizes coherence and precision in dissemination to ensure that scientific findings reach the broader community meaningfully, thus promoting science that positively impacts social and economic environments.
