Chapter 6. Digital educational resources in Colombian centers

Edwin Andres Londoño Alape,

Synopsis

This chapter addresses the importance of scientific communication and the dissemination of knowledge generated in the Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers, focusing especially on the Colombian context. The text discusses strategies implemented by these centers to socialize academic products, such as scientific papers, events, and communication products. The chapter shows that most Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers do not have a consolidated strategy to communicate science, which limits the scope and incidence of their research. Some centers use digital media, such as blogs, social networks and institutional journals, while others rely on inter-institutional events and collaborations. The need to strengthen communication capabilities in the Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers teams is highlighted, as well as the urgency of establishing alliances with institutional communication units to ensure greater visibility. The chapter also reflects on the challenges that these centers face in terms of training in scientific dissemination, available resources and editorial criteria. Finally, the chapter offers recommendations to build a more robust and purposeful communication culture, which favors dialog between academia and society, and contributes to positioning the Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers as key actors in the generation and circulation of knowledge
