Chapter 3. Academic and educational services in international centers

This chapter examines the different academic and educational services offered by international Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers as part of their strategies to boost knowledge. Actions such as academic tutoring, workshops, specialized courses, academic and cultural clubs, as well as knowledge tests, are identified. These strategies respond to specific training needs and diverse contexts. The chapter points out that each center organizes these services in a particular way, although there is a tendency to prioritize tutoring and academic workshops as central focuses. Innovative proposals are also highlighted, such as the evaluation of writing skills through specific tests and the use of digital platforms to certify skills. The research emphasizes that the categories used to organize this information were proposed by the authors to achieve a better understanding of institutional practices. In addition, it highlights the relevance of this information for other educational institutions interested in strengthening their training processes. In conclusion, the chapter demonstrates how the Writing, Reading, Communication and Knowledge Centers implement educational actions with high added value, which not only benefit students and teachers, but can also serve as a model for similar initiatives.
