Synopsis

In order to highlight the role of teachers in teaching and the occupational risks to mental health to which they are exposed on a daily basis, a literature review was conducted. For this, the Oxford Academic Journals, Scielo, and ProQuest databases were used, and reviews by research groups from different institutions were used as a guide. Globally, it is evident that depression and anxiety have a significant impact on teachers due to the workload they are exposed to. This affects their performance within institutions and leads to physical illness and unnecessary incapacity. The aim of this documentary research was to reflect on the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which
has turned teleworking into a new tool that generates more workload for teachers and, therefore, a greater mental risk.
