Synopsis

The inquiry processes in philosophy and its action in real contexts have led to the encounter of a varied number of expressions that bring in everyday situations and environments where there are opportunities for reflection, analysis, criticism, astonishment, and, in short, for questioning. This is how contemporary philosophical practices are shown, profiled as paths of inquiry for the questions found in the dynamics of social - and personal - development of man in very diverse scenarios from business, academic, therapeutic, to, especially for this book, in environments of social exclusion and confinement. Taking into account the above, this book is a response to the results achieved by PIE071 which, with the idea of strengthening ethical training, especially in relation to the mastery of passions, self-knowledge, and the development of critical thinking, addresses two fundamental areas: the theoretical understanding of Stoicism from the viewpoint of international expert researchers from an updating and understanding process developed through the show “Filosofía más allá de la Academia” (Philosophy Beyond the Academy) on TV UNAD, and that of the development of workshops adapted for philosophical training in vulnerable populations, which is considered as an expression of the social function of philosophy, especially when addressing issues affecting communities, in particular, at risk of exclusion, excluded, or in confinement. Hence, this book is considered a contribution to research related to social philosophy, its theoretical recognition, and its impact in context.
