Teleworking and mobile technology: advantages and disadvantages in pandemic scenarios

Alicia Cristina Silva Calpa, ; Diego Germán Martínez Delgado,

Synopsis

The year 2020 will be remembered for the expansion of the covid-19 pandemic and the great direct and collateral effects it had on the economy and companies, a situation that led to the implementation of telework mediated by mobile technologies as a work alternative for some favored companies and to the disappearance of many others that did not find viable alternatives to survive in the market. The sample is made up of 384 collaborators from companies and businesses from all sectors located in the city of Pasto. The applied study was descriptive-analytical, with a cross-sectional, non-experimental and quantitative research design, using structured formats for information collection and analysis of results through SPSS software. Companies found in technologies and telework the only key means to remain in the market under conditions of high economic losses. However, some sectors of the economy fell completely behind due to a lack of knowledge in the implementation of technological advances. Taking advantage of the crisis led companies to define the productive use of communication technologies as the axis for the development of new processes based on self-regulation, responsibility and the willingness of people, as well as the business commitment to remain active. Nevertheless, the common denominator has been business closures, employee layoffs, underfunding, and the need to find innovative means for business reactivation despite the uncertainty generated by the coronavirus.
