Synopsis

With the continuous postponement of the lifting of the declaration of emergencies due to the covid-19 pandemic, the change and adaptation of business styles in Colombia accelerated. As a result of this declaration, entrepreneurs faced a clear need to select different alternatives that would be convenient when making decisions in order to survive in the future. The objective of this presentation is to understand the importance of the use of mobile applications as a competitive advantage for the gastronomic sector in Barranquilla in the context of the covid-19 pandemic. The study was carried out through exploratory research with a descriptive qualitative approach, using relevant secondary data as fundamental sources to understand digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and the competitive advantages presented by digital entrepreneurship. The results showed that technologies have facilitated the transformation of businesses and have turned them into allies of entrepreneurs or innovators related to the digital field, or those who use digital tools as the support of their projects, especially in the gastronomic sector. It is concluded that the gastronomic sector is one of the sectors that generate the most income for the country’s economy, particularly in the city of Barranquilla. Before the declaration of emergency, it was almost impossible to think that companies in the gastronomic sector, such as restaurants, à la carte and fast-food restaurants, as well as cafeterias and bars, could become competitive without involving ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) as an integral part of strategic planning to achieve the business vision quickly and efficiently.
