Synopsis

The preliminary study of agrobiodiversity in the Escuela Campesina de Agroecología (ECA) of San Rafael, municipality of Tuluá analyzed the different forms of conservation, management, and use of agrobiodiversity, from the perspective of the material, social and spiritual spheres in the daily life of the community. Agrobiodiversity is a concept that refers to the number of crop species, domestic animals, breeds and their local varieties, and the communities' knowledge and techniques for managing landscapes. The research used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology, which considers the farmers as subjects of the research, making it possible to gain knowledge of the concrete reality. The application of the Historical-Logical-Cultural Approach (HLC) and the Participatory Revaluation Research (PRR) made it possible to study, understand, analyze, and revalue culture, history, territory and agrobiodiversity in an integral manner. As a result of the research, a diagnosis and inventory of agrobiodiversity was carried out, which generated a management and conservation plan for agrobiodiversity. Likewise, through the dialogue of knowledge, the knowledge and know-how on agrobiodiversity of the peasant school was revalidated.
