Agroecology as geopoetics

Martha Isabel Cabrera Otálora, ; Libia Esperanza Nieto Gómez, ; Reinaldo Giraldo Díaz,

Synopsis

The book proposes a reinterpretation of agroecology as a form of “geopoetics,” understood as a way of inhabiting the world through a sensitive, symbolic, and ethical relationship with nature. Drawing on ancestral knowledge—such as that of the San Agustín culture—and a critique of modern Western thought, the work challenges the utilitarian view of nature as a resource. Instead, it advocates for rebuilding the human–nature relationship from an integrative perspective that connects knowledge, culture, aesthetics, and territory as a foundation for addressing the contemporary environmental crisis.

Keywords: agroecology, environmental thinking, ancestral knowledge, culture and nature, geopoetics, rural development, human–nature relationship
