Synopsis

More than any time in human history, the current generation face diverse social, economic, and environmental issues, as it has failed to establish its priorities for the planet. On the one hand, it brings the heavy burden of a purely extractivist economic model, vigorously dependent on non-renewable resources, which in its chain of production, transformation, and use leave a deep environmental footprint on the planet; in the same vein, its agri-food model conflicts with the basic principles of sustainability since the dominant agricultural models of the green revolution have shown high inequity in provision of food compared to the damage caused to soil, water, and biodiversity. On the other hand, the current generation must respond to the growing voices that, from different sectors of society, urge to these economic, industrial, and food models migrate toward having as fundamental principles the recovery and/or preservation of the planet's natural capacity to provide sustenance in quantity, quality, and opportunity for all its inhabitants. In this sense, it is a priority that the living forces of society direct their efforts to transform their habits, customs, and daily work into actions that result in the cooling of the planet, the decarbonization of the economy, and intercultural solidarity.
