The consumer experience: the path of tourism towards responsible consumption

Ariana Herrera Pérez,

Synopsis

This paper synthesizes the importance of the consumer’s experience in the transition from conventional tourism to sustainable tourism, with special emphasis on responsible consumption. The
reality is that we cannot be the cause of unconsciously promoting the extinction of our life, due to the
inadequate management of resources. Proper consumer experience design is the key factor between the before and after traditional consumer trends. The case study of the San Miguel de Nono Parish has been considered as an example of good practices in the services and the promotion of ecotourism. The same that shows that it is possible to meet the objectives set by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 of the 2030 agenda.
