Hermeneutics for a World After the End of the World : Philosophical Essays

Manuel Darío Palacio Muñoz,

Synopsis

When starting the historical and psychological foundation of the so-called theory of worldviews, Dilthey presents a diagnosis of the intellectual sphere, in which understanding of history has been opposed to philosophy development. This contrast may not be so valid in our times, especially after the developments of the major theories of history in the 20th century, which have put aside the traditional philosophies of history. Today, however, we face an obscure feeling that again puts history against philosophy. It is no longer a question of the nineteenth-century discussion between metaphysical essences and historical events; today, we speak of a more elementary tension that consists of a feeling between the end of things and a philosophical understanding thereof.
