Synopsis

This book is an invitation to see research differently. Far from being a distant or exclusive activity for experts, it shows that doing research can be a living, collective experience deeply connected to who we are and the territories we come from. Through real stories developed in university research seedbeds, it opens a path to understand that research doesn’t begin after graduation or with a published article—it begins when we ask meaningful questions, observe our reality closely, and choose to act in order to transform it.

The seedbeds described here are not technical or closed spaces; they are open environments of dialogue, reflection, and collective creation. These are places where students, teachers, and communities come together to think critically, challenge the status quo, and propose new ways forward. The work is grounded in what is available and rooted in real contexts—without rigid structures or predesigned formulas, but driven by the desire to learn by doing and to build knowledge that matters.

This book also promotes a pedagogical approach that trusts the autonomy of students. It speaks of a kind of learning where the spotlight is not on the teacher delivering content, but on those who dare to inquire, experiment, make mistakes, and try again. From the very first class—even in introductory courses—it is possible to plant the first seeds of scientific curiosity. All it takes is honest guidance, meaningful questions, and a genuine connection to the world around us.
