Approach to a Genealogy of the Political as Ontological Principle

Yuner Ismar Flórez Eusse,

Synopsis

The book presents a series of arguments aimed at supporting the general thesis that contemporary political praxis in Colombia has deteriorated the ethical-political principles with which the political being was constituted; politics understood from the Aristotelian point of view as the greatest possible good to the community at large is proposed.

The book makes a historical journey, starting in ancient times, where some vices and shortcomings are evidenced (in the conformation of the Greek polis itself) regarding the recognition of the other and the formation of community life. It then moves on to the Middle Ages, where it is shown how political and clerical power unite and somehow jeopardize the ontological principles constituting a policy in which human dignity prevails.

Later, in Modernity, authors such as Rousseau, Thomas Hobbes, and Montesquieu who, in their way, postulated the social contract as the delegation of rights to the state so that it could protect citizens from a chaotic state where the law of the strongest prevails, were considered.

In Contemporary times, the postulate of the essence of the human being as a being in language is postulated, that is, the individual is by nature a being who dialogues, who converses with the other; this dialogue becomes the fundamental essence for the recognition of the other as a being completely different but clothed with dignity and, therefore, as an equal to the one who challenges him/her.

It also raises the need for social and political participation to configure the new contemporary geopolitical order, where each citizen is called upon to build his/her territory from his/her role. To this end, it is essential to deploy the entire educational apparatus, understood in a broad sense, that is, education in the classroom, the streets, public spaces, and in all environments where man interacts, to form citizens committed to the general welfare, the fundamental principles and rights, the dialogue, the respect for differences, and the argumentative consensus.
