Synopsis

The first micro-story contest of the e-Library of the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD) was held this year as an initiative that seeks to encourage creativity, writing and artistic expression in its academic community, which included students, teachers, administrative staff and alumni. This space not only allowed participants to explore their narrative abilities, but also to reflect their emotions, perspectives, and social contexts through brief narratives. More than 30 micro-stories were received that met the requirements of the contest, of which the three best stories were awarded prizes.

The idea of compiling the micro-stories in a book arose as a strategy to preserve these literary creations, to value them as artistic expressions and to share them with a wider audience. This book becomes a window to get to know the voices that make up UNAD, as well as the diverse themes and narrative styles that inspire them. In addition, the publishing project is part of UNAD's commitment to promote culture, art and learning, reinforcing its role as an inclusive institution open to creativity in all its forms. The purpose of this book is not only to highlight the literary talent of the community, but also to encourage participation in future editions of the contest and to consolidate a cultural and artistic heritage that enriches the university identity.

The book celebrates and promotes literary creativity among members of the university community. Publishing the selected works encourages writing as a means of expression and artistic creation, strengthening linguistic and narrative skills essential in the academic environment. Through this compilation, visibility is given to authors and their works, many of whom may not have another opportunity to share their texts with a wider audience. This recognition boosts writers' confidence and commitment to their talent.

The book acts as a document that preserves the thoughts, emotions and reflections of the participants, becoming a historical and literary resource that reflects the cultural diversity and socio-cultural context of the university and its community. This project reinforces the sense of belonging and institutional pride, and by including contributions from students, teachers and other members, a space of encounter is built through words, connecting diverse experiences and perspectives. The publication has educational value, as it inspires others to explore creative writing and to participate in future calls for entries. In addition, it can be used as didactic material to analyze narrative structures, styles and contemporary themes.
