Synopsis

In the context of the Master's Program in Community Psychology at the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD), the book "Weaving Communities: Practices and Experiences in Community Psychology from Participatory Action Research (PAR)" emerges as a fundamental work for academic training and research, supporting the professional work of community psychologists committed to social transformation.

This book, the fourth in a series of publications by the master's program, celebrates the centenary of the birth of Orlando Fals Borda, a pioneer of Participatory Action Research (PAR). Throughout its pages, the book presents a compilation of works developed by graduates, professors, and guest contributors, reflecting the critical, reflective, and transformative spirit of Community Psychology.

The work is divided into three chapters that address various topics related to PAR and its application in community contexts. The first chapter highlights theoretical reflections and testimonies of participatory research experiences, providing a deep understanding of the PAR methodology and its impact on the training of community psychologists. The second chapter focuses on social justice, citizenship, and community participation, exploring case studies that include the empowerment of migrant women and the use of cultural practices as tools for intervention. Finally, the third chapter addresses techniques and strategies for sustainable community development, including innovative approaches for the inclusion of people with disabilities and transdisciplinary practices for community strengthening.

"Weaving Communities" serves not only as an educational and research resource for master's students but also as a source of inspiration for professional practice. It offers concrete examples of how Community Psychology can be applied to meet current and future challenges faced by communities. The work emphasizes the importance of participatory knowledge, ethical commitment, and creativity in social intervention, contributing to the strengthening of research and intervention competencies among future community psychologists.
