Felicidad, bienestar y correlatos sociales

Marcela Muratori, ; Elena Mercedes Zubieta,

Synopsis

From a psychosocial perspective, the analysis of the perception of the social context plays a fundamental role in people's well-being. In this sense, it is necessary not only to know the assessment that subjects make about relationships and their immediate environment, but also to consider broader aspects that can facilitate or hinder people's relationship with their environment. In this frame, an empirical study was carried with the aim of analyzing the relationship between happiness, well-being and social variables such as the perception of social problems, emotional climate, institutional trust and locus of control. It was used a convenience simple composed by 243 argentines of both genders aged between 18 and 78 years. Accurate levels of well being, a high perception of social problems, a predominantly negative emotional climate and low institutional trust were observed. As for differential profiles, female people are less satisfied with life and perceive a more negative emotional climate. On the other hand, older people have greater hedonic and eudaemonic well-being. The dimensions of well-being are associated with a perception of a greater positive emotional climate and that most of them are linked to greater institutional trust. Conversely, the lower the well-being, the greater the negative affectivity. Likewise, a greater perception of social problems is associated with less social well-being. In other words, to the extent that people feel more part of their community, have positive attitudes towards others and are optimistic about the future of society, a greater positive climate prevails. At the same time, the negative emotional climate is negatively associated with institutional trust and positively with perceived social problems. The perception of social problems is negatively related to institutional trust.
