Synopsis

This book is the result of the research project “Contributions of the thought of Gilles Deleuze and Byung Chul Han to decolonial communication and interactive digital communication”. The research process was carried out by means of systematic readings, deep reflections and debates organized by the research team, who considered as a premise the need to rethink the informational and communicational processes from contemporary philosophical categories of Gilles Deleuze, Feliz Guattari, the South Korean philosopher Byung Chul Han, and Walter Mignolo, Anibal Quijano, Enrique Dussel and Santiago Castro-Gómez, among others. It begins with a brief overview of the main theories of communication, with the intention of contextualizing a reader who is new to the subject. The following chapters show a plurality of interpretations of this relationship, where they coincide in the rupture with the linear and circular models of communication, without suppressing them, but opening up to a proposal of multiple informative flows dynamized by concepts such as rhizome, segmentarity and heterogeneity. On the side of decolonial communication, the way in which informative media representations are disputed between hegemonic and subaltern and marginal discourses is interpreted from the foundations of thinkers of the decolonial turn. On the other hand, it addresses the coexistence of traditional, hybrid, hypermedia and digital forms of information and communication.

These categories allow us to analyze how lives are edited and reedited from the multiple contents with which they interact in recent times. Han's categories of hyperculturality and psychopolitics allow us to observe surreptitious agencies of the circulation of communicational power, beyond its usual places, where meanings are re-signified from the logics of a neoliberal globalization that impose forms of mental self-control.
