Synopsis

This  study  highlights  the  importance  of  using  relational  indicators  in  the  analysis  of  the  scientific  production  of  research  groups.  Its  main  objective  is  to  understand  publication  dynamics  through  the  use  of  various  indicators  related  to  the  density,  centrality  and  size  of  the  network.  To  achieve  this,  the  co-authorship  networks  of  seven  research  groups  affiliated  with  the  National  Open  and  Distance  University  (UNAD)   are   examined,   specifically   belonging   to   the   School   of   Administrative,   Economic and Business Sciences (ECACEN). In this analysis, a special focus is placed on co-authorship networks, and the publications analyzed are linked to the Research and Technological Development Groups in Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences (GrupLAC) of the ScienTI Platform of Colciencias. Specific tools were used to carry out this analysis: the UCINET v. 6.272 was used to calculate structural indicators of  co-authorship  networks,  while  the  NetDraw  v.  2,091  allowed  these  networks  to  be visualized. The results of the study indicate a low density in the networks, which indicates  reduced  connectivity  between  the  members  of  each  research  group  and  between the various groups within the same school. Likewise, in most of the groups investigated, the number of publications during the study period was relatively small, which in turn reflects a limited relational density. In view of these findings, this point highlights  the  importance  of  promoting  collaboration  and  cooperation  both  within  and  between  groups,  with  the  aim  of  improving  qualifications  and  achieving  higher  categories in the measurement model of the Ministry of Science
