The notion of “common good” and its applicability in modern societies: from Aristotle to Ostrom

Julian Felipe Bello López,

Synopsis

The objective of this article is to propose a theoretical analysis of the concept of the common good, and to open the debate, which will generate a responsibility in the application of public policies for modern societies. It invites to reflect and deconstruct the concept of communal goods, leaving behind the historical Manichaeism of the struggle of ideas, which are represented in two great models of society such as "communism and capitalism", putting emphasis on the reconstruction of communal spaces, as praxis, which allow to move away from the dominant dogmas, to generate a greater benefit in social policies.
