Carmen Eugenia Pedraza Ramírez, ; Sandra Milena Morales Mantilla , ; Yolanda Rodríguez Bernal,

Synopsis

The chapter presents and analyzes the first results of the project Technological mediations in early childhood education:   understandings from the experiences of boys and girls in Colombia, which seeks to characterize, with a differential approach, the experience of boys and girls from 5 to 6 years old in relation to technology-mediated education. In this project, recognizing the importance of respecting children's perspective and primary role in their own lives, the use of child-friendly research techniques was methodologically chosen.

Through the categories of access, use and emotional response, the results are presented distinguishing the participants from the rural and urban sectors. Similarly, it is evident from the children's voices which devices and applications they use the most and what they mainly use them for; various attitudes and emotions that aroused in them by the use of technologies were even identified. The findings also show children's perception of the role of adults in regulating the use of technology.
