La inflexión de la filosofía: un acercamiento a la noción de crítica en Michel Foucault

Nelson Santiago Patarroyo Rengifo,

Synopsis

The contents of this chapter revolve around a deep reflection on the role of the media during the pandemic, particularly on the use and abuse of fear as a control mechanism. It analyzes how media discourses shaped a global narrative of fear, affecting social perception of the virus and shaping individual and collective behaviors. From a critical perspective, the chapter exposes how the language used in news, bulletins and social networks not only informed, but also conditioned the reality experienced, amplifying panic and the feeling of vulnerability. Similarly, the psychological and social effects of prolonged fear are discussed, highlighting the importance of ethical and responsible communication. The text proposes the need to rethink the role of communicators in crisis contexts, and advocates for training that combines informative rigor with human sensitivity, in favor of an informed, yet not manipulated, citizenry.
