Synopsis

The recovery of the memories related to the armed conflict from the voice of their citizens leads to acknowledge the peculiarities and marks left on the rural roads. For example, that empty spot that literally became the scene of the last episode in the life of a woman, who had the audacity to challenge the power of the FARC’s 44th front. Or the corner to where a police officer, sentenced by this armed group, managed to flee.

It is a map with countless places, painted with words that collect heartbreaking and some not-so-heartbreaking stories. Such as that afternoon, almost night, when the rebel commander (a guerrillero) gave the order to the children to suspend the soccer game because the curfew was about to start, and a child’s voice answered, clearly and conclusively: “Wait! We only need one more goal.”

There are a thousand stories, perhaps a million, and only a few contained in this document. These intend to be a representation of what was most highlighted; what would live in the memory of many inhabitants. Many were killed for having dignity and a defiant attitude in this tragic scenario. Such as Mr. Elías, who refused to buy the boots he was asked for as a “contribution to the cause.” This refusal meant meeting his executioners on the least expected day; when he was milking the cows. He could barely run a few meters carrying his milk canteen while spilling his blood and milk on the corral mud. He paid the ultimate price. He is now a legendary figure who will undoubtedly be part of that memory that will prevail over the years.

Today, the focus is on the victims' table and the determination to make their farms a worthy place to visit for those who wish to contemplate the landscapes, breathe fresh air, drink a chachafruto yogurt, and go to the devil's rock or the Indian head. That's exactly where Tibacuy is headed, the Tibacuy that UNAD found one day, when one of its teachers came across this mysterious and evocative territory, with its witches, its tombs, its Panche cemetery, its ancient rocks, its imposing mountains, and guardians of the deeds of other times and of other beings that inhabit us and are in our blood and in those subtle traits of dignity and abandonment that, from time to time and almost unknowingly, sprout from the very depths of our being.
