Synopsis

During the last year, the research team was able to diagnose, through direct observation, how to the children and young people of the indigenous council the Guaimaro located in the Municipality of Sampués - Sucre, belonging to the Zenú ethnic group, and to the greater one of San Andrés Sotavento, have lost interest in learning the trades and ancestral traditions received from their elders, and before, on the contrary, have been dedicated to video games, social networks, among other activities that have little or nothing to do with their cultural identity; In partnership with some members of that community, it was decided, through the life plan, to rescue traditional values, through the teaching of techniques to continue with the tradition of producing unique handcrafted pieces that serve as potentially commercial elements, to through the use of the internet, which contributes to improving the quality of the members of that community. For this, a series of pedagogical interventions were implemented integrating children, youth with their elders, to facilitate a flow of ancestral information leading to the sowing and maintenance of the cane arrow, which is the raw material in the hat making vueltiao and all kinds of handcrafted textiles that serve as references to make handbags and rugs; how to roof their houses and how to work with other types of bio sustainable materials that are the basis of culture and what gives an added value to this type of crafts, which facilitates its commercialization and its global diffusion.
