Synopsis

Law 1753 of 2015 or Law of the National Development Plan 2014-2018 "All for a new country", aims to build a Colombia in peace, equitable and educated. Education institutions, in general, act in accordance with this objective and, for our case, this work studies the viability, favorable and inconvenient aspects that converge for the development of an educational offer mediated by ICTs in the Monte Mariana region of Sucre, focusing our attention on two sample municipalities: Colosó and Chalán as municipalities with great similarities in their general characteristics.

A qualitative approach allowed us to measure and carry out an analysis of the viability of the development of ICT-mediated education in the Monte Mariana region of Sucre. The methodological design of the research is a case study that analyzes or determines the viability of the model in the noted region, and that is why we focus on the mentioned municipalities, which are located at considerable distances from urban centers, with roads in poor condition, which makes it difficult for its inhabitants to access opportunities available in department capital-type cities.

This difficulty led us to ask ourselves: when finishing their secondary studies, what do graduates who wish to continue their training process do? And not only they, but also many people who wish to continue training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels — what difficulties do they have in relation to this qualification purpose? From there, from the National Open and Distance University - UNAD CCAV Corozal, two teachers decided to carry out the study that includes social, economic and technological variables, which will allow us to determine if the conditions exist, if it is within the reach of residents and if they wish and find the virtual training methodology for higher education attractive.
